Avdel India along with their partners “Universal Weather & Aviation” nominated delegate participated at the Global Aviation Summit- 2019 scheduled on 14th -15th January-2019 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. The two-day Global Aviation Summit 2019, launched its vision document to "chart out" a roadmap to make India a "Global Hub" for the aviation sector.
Launching the vision document, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu said the document will "chart out" a roadmap to achieve the objectives to make India a "Global hub" for the aviation sector. The key points of the Vision document 2040 documents were:
- India will require 200 airports and a financial commitment of $40-50 billion to handle at a minimum of 1.1 billion passengers flying to, from, and within the country.
- Passenger targeted traffic for FY. 2040 was estimated at around 1.1 billion.
- Most of the airports’ passenger potential will saturate in the next 15 years and India will have to practically double the count from 99 to 200 Airports.
- Airports in locations like Delhi and Mumbai would also saturate by 2040 and will demand a third airport.
- The scheduled airline fleet will increase from 622 to 2,360 until March 2040.
Further to this Mr. Prabhu has set up a task force, under the National Civil Aircraft Development (NCAD) program, to chalk out plans for indigenous aircraft, helicopters, and associated equipment manufacturing. With an aim to promote India as a global aircraft manufacturing hub, the task force is expected to set up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with an investment of $ 1.4 billion.
To achieve the target, the task force will identify technologies where India can pioneer in, giving SEZ status to aero-clusters, allowing 100 percent foreign direct investment (FDI), through the automatic route, for investments by OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers in defense aeronautical manufacturing, skill development, etc.
The Vision document for 2040 has also addressed areas of concern for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), human resource development, aviation safety and security, ground handling mechanism, air navigation, and remotely piloted aircraft (drones).
